Customer Reviews
Very happy with the product I received. I'm using the popup emitter with the catch basin for my downspouts. The flap style on this emitter allows leaves and debris to easily flow out or collect in the catch basin with less worry about clogging and plugging up the emitter. A bit more expensive than other popups but the clog free nature is good insurance in my wooded location. I'm ordering two more today.
Everyone is helpful when you call with questions. As a DIYer, not a contractor, I wish I would have known in advance I would need risers for one of my pop up emitters but they make it easy to purchase and delivery is extremely quick.
We recently have had The French Drain man complete 3 underground gutter drains, with downspout cleanout, catch basin, and pop up drain. They were installed under cement walkways already in place. From the moment they arrived you could see they were very organized and meticulous about their business. They have what they do down to a science. There was no guessing as they had a plan in place for our yard before they arrived. They used top notch products, and completely put everything back and cleaned up as if they were never there. Thank you French Drain Man.
Great supplies for drain work. Best I found. Over size pop up covers are the best.
Just installed both an open French Drain and two buried downspouts to direct into rain gardens in our backyard using their supplies and learning from all the video resources they provide.
Three Tips:
1) Just get the full DIY kits—don’t try to piece them together thinking you can source the pipe locally. The stuff at big box stores isn’t the same and will not hold up as well to different weight pressure since it is designed for industrial agricultural use where it is buried deep and away from most tree roots. The pipes that come with the kits are far stronger and intended for residential use. Having a good plan for where you will be placing each before you order will ensure you can order any extra pipe you need at the same time (though what is included in the kits was more than enough for our project).
2) Watch several videos from the channel on the project topic you will be working on and use them to make a rough step by step list for the first one you do. Note time stamps for any parts that seem like they might trip you up, easy to reference while working then. Different videos will share different insights or watch a few, and ensure you have checked for the most recently posted on the topic. We got more root suppression tips from a video that came out between when we ordered the kits and started the install for example.
3) If you are installing multiple, start with the spot that is shortest, simplest, and/or least conspicuous to build your confidence and work through the learning curve. Next ones will go way smoother after that.
Happy digging! But seriously it is hard work so just get the good quality materials they package up in their kits—you are not going to want to have to dig up and redo in the future.
(Image notes: ground has intentionally not been lowered at the mouth of the popup yet because it can’t flow into the garden for a couple weeks. No rain in the forecast so all good there, and tested with a garden hose and it all works. Also more grading to do so they are only roughly covered for now or in process in these images.)

They have everything I needed to really do my downspout drainage right. With the downspout cleanouts, catch basin and excellent pop-up emitter I can now handle Florida's summer thunderstorms and get the water far away from the house. Excellent training videos to help a DIYer.
I'm glad I found out about the French Drain man! I will be using his downspout leaf filters and pop-up emitters in every install from now on.
I have installed 2 of their catch basins and pop-up emitters for my downspouts. Their products are quality and made in the USA. I'm very happy with them!
I am very pleased with the quality go the French Drain Man Pop-Up Emitter. I just completed my first at-home installation and am excited for the next rain storm.
I ordered the kit which included the leaf filter, pop-up and 3" drain pipe. Installation was easy after watching the very helpful youtube video by the French Drain Man. I have the system installed now for about 3 weeks and it is working extremely well handling all the rain off my roof and into the french drain and exiting 25' from my house. I am going to be ordering more for the rest of my downspouts. What a great easy DIY system from the French Drain Man. Can't go wrong with his kits.
I have purchased three of the downspout kitswhich have the 3 inch hose, pop up emitter, dowspout adapter and catch basin. All parts fit well. I was able to install with no problems. Two of the installations required digging under sidewalks. I have four more downspouts that I will use the FDM kits on. I live in Maine so I needed to drill holes in the catch basin and emitter to drain the system.
We do not ship outside the 48 contiguous states.
