Customer Reviews
I have purchased three of the downspout kitswhich have the 3 inch hose, pop up emitter, dowspout adapter and catch basin. All parts fit well. I was able to install with no problems. Two of the installations required digging under sidewalks. I have four more downspouts that I will use the FDM kits on. I live in Maine so I needed to drill holes in the catch basin and emitter to drain the system.

Phenomenon staff and innovation. Our company prides itself in quality and we only use premium products. Having said this, our local companies and boxstores leave a lot to be desired. We use FDM exclusively for our drainage products with great success, allowing us to standout above the rest.

Phenomenal products!! I have 4 downspouts, 3 of which were improperly buried by landscapers. I have replaced 2 of them myself with the 3" Premium PRO Kit for Buried Downspouts. AMAZING!! What a difference! This was a fun little project, time and effort will vary depending on your yard conditions. Great before and after results, I find myself grabbing an umbrella during rains just to see it in action. I love it. I'm going to replace the other 2 downspouts this spring, one of which is PVC and froze this winter, I wish I did that one first. I highly recommend getting a catch basin also, it's crazy how much shingle debris it catches. Yes, they are a bit pricey relative to the junk sold in the big box stores, but you definitely get what you pay for. Do it right the first time and it will be cheaper in the long run.

Just installed both an open French Drain and two buried downspouts to direct into rain gardens in our backyard using their supplies and learning from all the video resources they provide.
Three Tips:
1) Just get the full DIY kits—don’t try to piece them together thinking you can source the pipe locally. The stuff at big box stores isn’t the same and will not hold up as well to different weight pressure since it is designed for industrial agricultural use where it is buried deep and away from most tree roots. The pipes that come with the kits are far stronger and intended for residential use. Having a good plan for where you will be placing each before you order will ensure you can order any extra pipe you need at the same time (though what is included in the kits was more than enough for our project).
2) Watch several videos from the channel on the project topic you will be working on and use them to make a rough step by step list for the first one you do. Note time stamps for any parts that seem like they might trip you up, easy to reference while working then. Different videos will share different insights or watch a few, and ensure you have checked for the most recently posted on the topic. We got more root suppression tips from a video that came out between when we ordered the kits and started the install for example.
3) If you are installing multiple, start with the spot that is shortest, simplest, and/or least conspicuous to build your confidence and work through the learning curve. Next ones will go way smoother after that.
Happy digging! But seriously it is hard work so just get the good quality materials they package up in their kits—you are not going to want to have to dig up and redo in the future.
(Image notes: ground has intentionally not been lowered at the mouth of the popup yet because it can’t flow into the garden for a couple weeks. No rain in the forecast so all good there, and tested with a garden hose and it all works. Also more grading to do so they are only roughly covered for now or in process in these images.)
I ordered the kit which included the leaf filter, pop-up and 3" drain pipe. Installation was easy after watching the very helpful youtube video by the French Drain Man. I have the system installed now for about 3 weeks and it is working extremely well handling all the rain off my roof and into the french drain and exiting 25' from my house. I am going to be ordering more for the rest of my downspouts. What a great easy DIY system from the French Drain Man. Can't go wrong with his kits.
